Medium Body, Dry (Nebbiolo). DOC. Alc 14.5%.
Arguably the most important grape of north Italy, Nebbiolo is a much loved variety that offers the chance to really explore the concept of 'terroir' as it expresses itself so differently depending on where the vines are located. These particular Nebbiolo vines grow on hillside vineyards east of Turin (Colline Torinesi) in the area of Castelnuovo Don Bosco.
Bright red fruit notes, with a touch of pastry. Lively acidity and slightly chewy tannins. Youthful character but surprisingly drinkable already (November, 2022). A superb example of great price/quality ratio - if you're looking for a 'weekday' Nebbiolo grab yourself a bottle (or a case).
WINERY NOTES: Our Notturno stems from the desire to embrace a new local DOC and be interpreter of another important grape which contributes of creating a particular identity of our wine region. This wine is the result of a niche production, obtained from the highest hillside of Monferrato, nestled in our territory. The aging in oak wood gives an important structure, from the expressive and aromatic point of view, this is a wine which conveys towards the fruity notes, a ripen fruit with smoky flavours coming through. The palate is full and developing, as the dreamlike and smooth melody to which it is inspired.
VINIFICATION: Vinified in purity, Nebbiolo grapes are accurately selected from the best hillsides, exposed at the noons sun and characterised by soils reach in calcium and well drained. Bunches are harvested by hand during the month of October only upon complete maturation. De-stalking of the grapes, fermentation at controlled temperature and maceration on skins for about 10-15 days with frequent pumping over assure complexity and concentration. It matures in French oak barriques of second and third passage for a minimum of 12 month. A period of aging follows in the bottle before being released for sale.
