Medium Body, Dry (Ruche). Alc 15%.
3/3 Gambero Rosso; RP 91 points.
Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG.
Great introduction to a rare, aromatic red grape. Think Nebbiolo meets Pinot Nero/Noir (and a hint of Sangiovese plus old-world style Syrah).
"Anise, violets, plum, a touch of petroleum and pepper. Tannins softened after 20 minutes. Very distinctive and unusual." Vivino User - 4.5 stars.
ESTATE: The family-run Ferraris estate is located in Asti, within the Castagnole Monferrato appellation. Winemaker Luca Ferraris ages his boutique wines in a deep cellar that was first built in the 1400s and then expanded and finished by Luca's grandfather. He believes in five elements that characterise his award-winning wines - sun, earth, warmth, scent and aroma. The heritage of the Ferraris estate lives on through the respect Luca shows for both his grandfather's teachings and the land itself.
WINE: Made with Ruché grapes sourced from vineyards of diverse characteristics, Clasic stands out for its elegance and traditional style that ties it to this winemaking area. His high quality is ensured through careful management of the vines and low yields per hectare. The wine’s elegance and complexity is apparent through its luminous ruby colour and fascinating olfactory experience. Deep, intense aromas of rose petals intertwine with flavors of cherry jam and forest fruits, followed by spicy notes of rainbow pepper to finish. The wine shows vibrant acidity blending perfectly with gentle tones of oak, making it an ideal accompaniment to traditional Piedmontese first courses.
