[Friday, 12 June 2020]. When I heard Aaron Wong was sending out a very limited number of his prize-winning* LU ROU FAN it seemed the perfect excuse for some wine pairing tests! The richness of the dish needs a high-acid wine with enough body to stand up without overpowering, but it should also be a ‘comfort’ wine in keeping with the feeling of this home-cooked rice bowl.
So we tried out the MOSCATO d’Asti from Piedmont family estate Moncherio Carbone, also the NOSIOLA (local mountain vine) from Dolomite legends Pojer & Sandri and the Malvasia blend EPOS by foodie-winery Poggio Le Volpi of Lazio, plus an aged Sangiovese called ORA by charity estate San Patrignano (SanPa) of Emilia-Romagna. For full wine-pairing notes, see the FB photos.
