Medium Body, Dry (Vitovska).
Rare white "grape of light"* elegantly presented by Friuli's poet-painter-winemaker.
96/100 pts "Edi Kante is a pioneer when it comes to the indigenous grape Vitovska, which is grown just across the border in Slovenia. The soil here in the Carso is ferrous-rich and chalky. 2016 was a balanced vintage for these 20-year-old vines, and the wine was fermented and aged in oak for 12 months to create a delicate and silky wine with lime, lemon juice and gypsum powder on the nose and a light and super- refreshing acidity in the mouth. Drinking Window: 2019-2040." - Decanter (Aldo Fiordelli).
* Vitovska has been called "the grape of light" ... as it often has a halo in the vineyard - thanks to its translucent skins, which means the sunlight bounces up off the white stoney soil (important to this area's vineyards).
A NOTE ON THE WINERY:- At the Kante vineyards the grapes are harvested by hand.
- In the cellar, wines are neither fined nor filtered and no new oak is used (barrels are up to 18 years old). This is Edi's style and philosophy of winemaking.
